How to monitor usage and attach your own grant?
This guide explains how to monitor credit usage and configure your own API key from a grant.
Monitoring Credit Usage
Every LokAI Portal user has access to a credit pool, which provides access to language models. The available amount can be checked in the settings tab.
How to check usage:
-
In the bottom left corner, click the profile icon to expand the menu.

-
From the list of available options, select the Settings section.

-
Then, navigate to the Usage and Grants tab, shown below.

-
In the main area of the screen, a plan card will be displayed (e.g., Free Tier). It contains:
- Available resources: Currently, every free tier user receives 200 credits to start.
- Progress bar: visually shows how much of the limit has been used.
- Current usage: the exact number of consumed resources (e.g.,
74.14 / 200.00 credits). - Validity: information on the credit pool's validity period.
Configuring External API Keys
If you need higher limits or are using a dedicated research grant, you can connect your own API key from the LLM Lab system.
How to add a new API key:
-
In the Usage and Grants section, click the + Add key from LLM Lab button in the bottom right corner.

-
In the "Connect your grant from LLM Lab" window, fill in two fields:
- Key Name: any name that helps you identify the grant (e.g., "plgexample_grant").
- API Key: the key copied from the LLM Lab panel (starts with
plg-...).
-
Click the Save Key button to complete the process.

Managing Grants and Limits
Once the key is added, the grant will be assigned to your account and will appear in the management panel.

- Status: To activate a key, click on its card. An active grant is marked with the In use label, and its card turns green.

- Details: The exact credit usage of your own key can be checked directly in the LLM Lab application panel.
- Multiple keys: You can use multiple grants simultaneously. To do this, add another key and select it from the list.
- Removing: If a grant is no longer needed, simply click the trash icon on the right side of its card.
